With the release of b4 Version 7.8, AmdoSoft significantly enhances its automation platform, delivering powerful new features that increase flexibility, improve bot control, and introduce intuitive AI-assisted automation.

Scheduled Jobs Now Fully Integrated as b4 Objects

A major highlight of the update is the complete transformation of scheduled jobs into standalone b4 Objects. The former “Schedule Report Manager” perspective has been removed, and all scheduled tasks are now managed via the “Scheduled Jobs Manager.” Reports and other scheduled activities can now be triggered directly from within the Graphical Rules Editor (GRE) — either on schedule or on demand. A new search filter for the "Reports" object type also simplifies navigation and organization.

Pause Bot Execution with a Keyboard Shortcut

RPA developers can now pause, resume, or terminate checkpoint executions during live bot sessions using the shortcut CTRL+ALT+P. This is ideal for debugging, safe testing, or when processes deviate from expected behavior. It replaces less reliable methods like force-stopping bots via the system tray, which sometimes caused unwanted interactions with the console.

AI Action Builder – Create Automation Actions via Chat

Another milestone: the AI Action Builder allows users to create customized automation actions through a built-in chat interface. All interactions are saved as part of the action’s history, enabling intuitive development — even for non-developers — without writing code.

• Infinite Looping in GRE: The Graphical Rules Editor now allows truly infinite loops by entering “-1” in the Max Retries field of the Loop Branch element. This is ideal for persistent or long-running workflows and removes the need for workaround values. A helpful tooltip guides users directly in the interface.
• Expanded Multilingual Support: As part of our ongoing efforts to provide a fully multilingual user experience, we’ve expanded the translation of system-generated labels and dialogs — including those created by Eclipse components like “Reset Perspective”, “Preferences”, and others. This improves usability and consistency across language settings.
• Smart Tolerance & Image Prioritization: New improvements in Checkpoint execution bring smarter image recognition and dynamic tolerance handling, significantly boosting execution accuracy, speed, and stability across varied screen conditions.
• Controller Safe Shutdown: The b4 Controller now shuts down safely and automatically when the system powers off, helping protect data integrity and ensuring more reliable operations in managed environments.
• Tomcat Upgrade: We've upgraded to Apache Tomcat 10, delivering better security, performance, and future-proof compatibility with modern system standards.
